Legal Translation Services Company – USA & Europe

Legal Translation Services

LinguaVox is a quality oriented multilingual legal translation services bureau with a certified quality management system according to ISO 9001, offering a legal translation service certified in compliance with the stringent European quality standard specific for language translation service providers UNE EN-15038:2006. Our Legal Translation Division has an extensive database of fully qualified legal translators, many of whom are actually attorneys who have practiced law or are still active in the field. Our European legal translation agency is based in northern Spain, and our US legal translation service in Michigan.
If you assign your legal translation to LinguaVox, three people will take part in your project: 1) a legal translator with a university degree in Law or Translation and at least two years of documented experience in legal translation, who will translate into his/her native language; 2) a reviser, a professional translator specialized in the legal specialty in question, or a lawyer, and with extensive translation experience in that field, who will compare the source and target texts and recommend corrective measures, and finally; 3) one of our project coordinators who will manage all the project phases and be responsible for the final quality control before delivery.

Legal Translation Services in more than 150 languages

Last year we managed translation jobs into 57 target languages, and our extensive database of legal translators allows us to offer online translation services in more than 150 languages :English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Japanese, Arabic Russian, Korean, Hindi, Urdu, Dutch, Vietnamese, Turkish, Greek, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, etc.

English to Spanish Legal Translation is our specialty

However, given the progressive growth of the Hispanic community within the US population, and the increasing commercial importance of the emerging Spanish speaking countries in Latin America, about 70% of our current translation requests are for Spanish to English and English to Spanish legal translations. LinguaVox, with Spanish and Mexican legal translators, revisers and project managers in their European (Spanish) and US translation offices, possesses the skills and experience to facilitate the Hispanics’ assimilation into the work force and society through its legal language services.

Legal Translation – probably one of the most difficult types of translation services
Many of us participate in work or businesses that, in one way or another, transcend borders and cultures. In the execution of this work, information necessarily flows from one point to another, and not always in the same language. Even if one global commercial language were to be recognized there still would remain the need to translate.
Legal language or “legalese”, even when attempting to be clear and explicit, can be confusing. It can also appear to be obscure to those unfamiliar with the terminology or not trained in the field of legal translation and international law. This type of translation demands that legal translators possess literary comprehension in the source language and the skill to redact with equal literary ability and precision in the target language, which should be the translators’ native tongue. Apart from the writing skills, legal translators need to be familiar with the field of law, its history and culture, development and application, common and civil law, and sometimes, specific cases and rulings within the countries of the source and target languages. Thus, it is especially important legal translations are translated by translators from the country where the translation will be used. Consequently, we would assign a legal translation aimed at the Chilean market to a Chilean Spanish native legal translator, and we would work with a British legal translator for a translation to be used in the United Kingdom.
Some of the more common types of documents which require a legal translation are the following:

  • Birth certificates
